Hello, Dateability 2.0!

Have you ever seen the first versions of Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube? They all look and behave drastically different than their original products. As these companies became more popular, their designs changed, they created new features, and they attracted a lot more customers. For the past year, we were working hard on building a beautifully updated Dateability and in September, we launched Dateability 2.0.

We’ve learned a lot since we initially launched in 2021. Did you know that all of the OG designs were done by Jacqueline (who I must add had no design experience whatsoever)? This time, we hired a talented pro who gave Dateability the facelift it deserved, while also keeping the integrity of the original version. The new design is colorful, lively, and fun!

A big feature we updated was the accessibility. Admittedly, our first app was not accessible enough. It lacked some features that made the app truly accessible for everyone. We knew when rebuilding that accessibility was the top priority. We chose the design strategically, such as a dark color contrast, larger buttons, and enhanced support for dynamic text sizing. We also ensured that Dateability 2.0 was accessible via screen readers. Now, this isn’t to say there aren’t any gaps… there will ALWAYS be gaps. With so many different accessibility softwares/tools and various ways to use them, it can take time to find weak spots, but now we can easily make adjustments.

We also completely rewrote the code. I won’t bore you with the technical details, but we made the platform much more stable, efficient, and scalable. We gathered user feedback and implemented some changes to our algorithm and created a much smoother onboarding process. 

Having this brand new version will allow us to add new features more easily and quickly. We have a full roadmap ahead of us and we can’t wait to see our new ideas come to life. We truly respect our community’s feedback, so if you have a feature request, contact us here!
