Singles Awareness Day

February 14 is for the couples, but February 15 is for the singles! You may feel like you need to recharge after your feeds were flooded with cutesy couple pics.

Here’s a few ideas to get you back into a good headspace:

A collage of Black Disabled activists including, Marsha Elle, Lolo Spencer, Dr. Akilah Cadet, Keith Jones, Brandon Winfield, Imani Barbarin, Shelby Lynch, Verton Banks, Aariana Rose Philip, and Claudia Gordon. Magazine cutout letters say, “Listen to Black Disabled Activists.”

Celebrating Black Disabled Activists

Disability advocacy would not exist without Black activists but unfortunately, disability is often erased from the stories of Black figures, despite being greatly intersectional. Historically, the fight for disability rights has been led by the Black community and today’s Black change makers continue to make an impact. We must acknowledge and appreciate past and modern Black Disabled activists— never stop listening & learning.

A Look Into Image Descriptions

You may have been scrolling social media and see mentions about Alt Text or Image Descriptions. A lot of you will mindlessly scroll past and ignore, some will know the purpose of it, and others will think it is some kind of error on the uploader’s end. Image Descriptions and Alt Text are imperative for accessibility and allows many disabled people to access and digest content.
